Too Deep

I told myself I would not be afraid,
Of the things that push me in an odd direction.
I've always resisted, swam towards the north,
While the stream pushed me south.

But as they say, "nature takes its course".
How much can you tread water, before you sink,
Before you drown and choke on your efforts?
I threw myself into the ocean without thinking.

I won't be a cinder block on the sea floor.
Since the river pushed me into waters too deep.
My naive mind said that I could take it.
But reluctantly, I wait to be rescued, yet again.
